Belgian Beer
Styles of Belgium beer include pale ales, lambics, Flemish red ales, sour brown ales, strong ales and stouts. There are around 300 active breweries in Belgium, from large international companies, such as AB InBev, down to tiny traditional breweries such as Trappist monasteries. Most beers are put into bottles, rather than cans, and almost every brewery has its own branded, often uniquely shaped, glass. UNESCO recognised Belgian beer culture in 2016 by placing it on their list of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.
